With filming now underway, Kimberly Peirce has now gathered all but a few of the main cast members for the new take on Carrie. There has been some doubt recently on a couple of names, with Judy Greer reported as cast, then scaled back to simply in talk. But Deadline now brings word that she’s officially locked in.

Greer will be playing the sympathetic gym teacher (named Miss Collins in the original, but Deadline’s story has her as Miss Desjardin) who tries to help Carrie White (Chloe Moretz) when she has her first period in the showers after class. Unfortunately for Carrie, the teacher phones her repressive mother (Julianne Moore in this version) and causes more trouble.

Peirce has also found someone to play bad girl Chris Hargensen, whose infamous prom night prank causes Carrie’s telekinetic powers to explode into full, violent power. Youth In Revolt’s Portia Doubleday has won that role.

With Chronicle’s Alex Russell and The Three Musketeers’ Gabriella Wilde also in the cast, Carrie is set for release on April 12 next year.
