The new take on Halloween – talked up as a reboot, but sounding increasingly like a continuation – got a big boost recently when it was revealed that Jamie Lee Curtis would be returning to play Laurie Strode. Now Judy Greer is close to a deal to join her.

Director David Gordon Green wrote the script for this one with Danny McBride, with the intention of bringing back Michael Myers to face off against Laurie for one final encounter. Greer would be Karen Strode, Laurie's daughter.

Halloween creator and overlord John Carpenter is back for this one, acting as executive producer and consultant. We can't help but wonder if Green and McBride are busy trying to convince him to also provide the music for the new movie...

Universal and Blumhouse Productions are behind the new film, which will be out in October next year. As for Greer, she's typically busy, with the likes of Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 To Paris, thriller Driven, superhero sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp and Richard Linklater's next film Where'd You Go, Bernadette? all due either in the coming months or next year.
