When the people who brought us The 40-Year-Old Virgin reunite to make a new film, it’s cause for celebration.
Sadly this time we’ll be denied the comedy stylings of Steve Carell, but we do get Virgin director Judd Apatow directing and a script from that film’s co-star, Seth Rogen.
Super Bad, which Sony is throwing into gear as we speak, focuses on two high school seniors with a serious case of co-dependency. When they decide to impress the cool kids – and, more importantly- girls – by arranging alcohol for a party, their mission goes terribly wrong and they end up separated. Soon the anxiety of being apart is worse than any nervousness around the ladies.
Rogen plays one of the social misfits, and he’s joined by Arrested Development’s Michael Cera. The man behind the camera is Greg Mottola, who has experience working with Apatow and Rogen – he directed several episodes of their brilliant- but-cancelled campus TV comedy Undeclared.
