It’s been a slow ole time gossip-wise at this year’s Sundance, with the credit crunch and Obamania in full effect, but one intriguing snippet has emerged courtesy of Chud who discovered that Bill Hader has written a slasher script for Judd Apatow.
Now If there’s one genre you don't readily associate with Apatow, it’s horror (well, horror and sweeping romantic epics), but that could be about to change. Bill Hader, who collaborated on the screenplay with fellow SNL writer Simon Rich, describes the pitch as, “Partially Straw Dogs meets **Halloween **meets Home Alone meets Monster Squad.” Bring it on, we say.
“It’s definitely about guys nowadays, that idea that you watch fucked up shit on TV… You watch fucked up reality shows, I love true crime shows. The idea of that thing coming to your house, and what do you do? I would shit my pants. That’s basically what the movie is about. What if that guy decided to come to your house. What would you and your dipshit friends do about it?”
Nip into diary room and complain about it, if Celebrity Big Brother is anything to go by, but Hader clearly has slashier solutions in mind. Fingers and toes are crossed that this gets made, because an Apatow-helmed gorefest is something we’d pay to see.
