A new trailer for Journey To The Centre of the Earth: 3D has gone online at Cineplex. You can see it here.
You will notice that this clip features rather a lot of shots of things flying toward the camera or looking down into deep gorges. That'll be because they're intended to leap out at you when you see this first 3D action movie with dorky glasses on – though we're not sure how we feel about experiencing Brendan Fraser spitting on us in three dimensions.
The film tells of a man who teaches his son about Jules Verne's book Journey To The Centre of the Earth and then takes him on a trip to discover that it is all true and our planet's core is full of dinosaurs and glowing birds, not just molten rock and temperatures too hot for anything but the most basic elements to avoid destruction.
This still has that manic quality shared by most Imax films, even though this is intended as a narrative experience and not just a gimmick. And the script is extremely cheesy ("Shut your trap!"). But we're always suckers for a 3D dinosaur, so it's really only fair to judge this once you're wearing '80s-looking spectacles.
