Not content with taking on the biggest job of his life (Marvel’s The Avengers) or shooting Shakespearian adaptation Much Ado About Nothing in 12 days when he was supposed to be on holiday post-Avengers, Joss Whedon has apparently decided that he wants to become a movie mogul. Okay, a mini-movie mogul. How so? His freshly-formed Bellwether Pictures company will now release another new film, metaphysical love story In Your Eyes.
There are few details available about the project yet (which is not a shock given that Whedon was able to keep everything about Much Ado a secret until it was finished), but he wrote the thing, which features two seemingly opposite people who are connected in unexpected, and deep, ways. Brin Hill, who last made 2008’s basketball drama Ball Don’t Lie, is directing.
“When I wrote In Your Eyes, I didn’t have the wherewithal (or the moxie) to make it without an established production house,” Whedon writes in a statement. “I believe, as I did then, that it’s a pretty timeless romance, and now, with the creation of Bellwether Pictures (and Brin Hill’s elegant, passionate take on the piece) I have the opportunity to prove it. (I also have a 37% increase in moxie.) I love this team and I can’t wait to see them bring In Your Eyes to life.”
In Your Eyes has its financing in place and should kick off shooting in February.
