Josh Trank is enjoying that golden period after a first-time director scores a hit and starts fielding offers left and right. With his Chronicle a bona fide success, Trank has been gathering possible future gigs, _including Warner Bros’ The **Red Star_and Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off Venom. Now the latter studio has scored him a second job, taking on the adaptation of video game title Shadow Of The Colossus.
Fumito Ueda created the game in 2005. It finds the hero desperate to bring back his beloved, who he believes has died. Journeying into a forbidden land, he summons a demon who claims to raise the dead. But – naturally – there’s a price for his services, and the young man must kill 16 colossi ruling the mystical realm. But even as he sets about his quest, the man starts to worry that perhaps he’s been tricked. To which we must reply: well, duh.
According to Deadline, Trank is a fan of the game and was the one who approached Sony about the idea. He and producer Kevin Misher are now meeting with writers to find the right scribe for the job.
