Josh Stewart Returns For The Collection

We rather liked The Collector, so we're quite pleased to hear that its star Josh Stewart is back for **The Collection. The sequel will film in 3D, and once again be written and directed by Marcus Dunstan.

Without wishing to be too spoilerific, things weren't looking too good for Stewart's character Arkin, the last we saw of him, after The Collector's credits (you stayed that long, right?). Seems that things have improved in the meantime, as The Collection picks Arkin up in hospital. There's not much time for rest or recuperation though, as a band of mercenaries abduct him, blackmail him (he's a burglar, after all), and set him back to work tracking down The Collector's sadistically booby-trapped lair.

The first film has its logical problems (would you continue trying to crack a safe after realising you're suddenly mysteriously locked into the house and somebody is walking around in it?) but it's good, nasty fun. We're not sure about the mercenaries angle here, but a poke around The Collector's hide-out can only be good news. For us, if not Arkin.

The film will be shot in Real-D, rather than the retrofitted variety, and as before, the screenplay is by Dunstan and Patrick Melton. The pair wrote the final four Saw films (The Collector was originally written as a Saw prequel before being re-tooled) and with that franchise apparently about to end, they must have their eye on the space it'll leave...
