Seth Rogen and his regular honcho Evan Goldberg are fast establishing themselves as TV moguls, in a sideline to their quite-successful-enough movie career. They've got Preacher on the way, adapted from Garth Ennis' comics, and they're now producing a new comedy pilot for TV streaming platform Hulu. Josh Hutcherson is lined up to star as Future Man.
The premise is that Hutcherson is Josh Futterman (see what they did there?), a hapless janitor by day but a shit-hot gamer by night. On completion of something called Cybergeddon, he's visited by the characters from the game, who reveal it wasn't a game at all, but a training system. Having aced it, he's recruited to go back in time and save the world.
The script comes courtesy of Kyle Hunter and Ariel Schaffir, who wrote and co-produced Rogen and Goldberg's The Night Before and the upcoming "adult" animation Sausage Party. Rogen, Goldberg, Hunter and Schaffir will all act as executive producers on Future Man, along with James Weaver and Matt Tolmach. And Rogen and Goldberg will also co-direct.
Pre-production is officially underway, so watch this space for more developments in the near future. Preacher starts its ten-episode run on AMC later this year.
