Here’s something we haven’t seen much of recently: a casting announcement for **X-Men: Days Of Future Past **that doesn’t come from the Twitter-happy thumbs of director Bryan Singer. We’re actually surprised to see any casting news at all, given that the film has already been shooting for a while, but nonetheless Josh Helman is aboard for a few weeks’ work.
What the Aussie actor will actually be doing in the mutant movie is currently a mystery. He’s joining one of the biggest casts working, which includes Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing and Evan Peters.
The film finds our X-heroes trying to thwart a dark alternate future timeline in which mutants are hunted down, killed or kept in concentration camps. It’ll take both the present-day and past versions of the characters to work it all out.
Helman got his start on Home And Away, before graduating to the likes of The Pacific, Animal Kingdom and last year’s Jack Reacher. He’ll next be seen alongside Hoult in Mad Max: Fury Road, which should finally drive into UK cinemas next year. As for Days Of Future Past, that has a date with our screens on May 22, 2014.
