Since breaking through as part of the original cast of The Book Of Mormon on Broadway, Josh Gad is usually found stealing scenes in films such as Love & Other Drugs and the upcoming The Internship. He’s switching to more of a leading role for a new, untitled comedy that will see him sharing the screen with another notorious scene-thief, Kevin Hart.

The film, co-written by The Break-Up’s Jeremy Garelick with regular partner Jay Lavender, was once called The Golden Tux.

Hart will play a Hitch-style charisma fountain who provides best man services for socially-challenged types who have somehow been able to convince a woman to marry them but don’t have any close male friends. Gad is set to be one of the awkward grooms-to-be who needs a right-hand. He then digs himself and Hart in deeper by lying about the nine groomsmen he has lined up for the wedding, and the charade gets worse from there. The way things are going, the band hired for the event will only know how to perform The Rains Of Castamere…

Garelick is planning to direct the movie for Screen Gems and Miramax, where it was originally set up.

Gad will next be seen in The Internship (out July 4), Thanks For Sharing and as Steve Wozniak in Jobs. Hart crops up in** This Is The End** (due 28 June), Grudge Match and Ride Along.
