Following on from last week's news that Josh Brolin has provided the vocals for galactic threat Thanos in** Guardians Of The Galaxy** comes news that he’s set to go in a very different direction for another future project. He’s signed on to reunite with Joel and Ethan Coen for their next film, Hail Caesar!.
Brolin will join another Coen veteran, George Clooney, for the film, which is reportedly chronicling the behind-the-Hollywood-scenes wrangling of Eddie Mannix, a fixer in the employ of the studios who works to protect the reputations of their stars in the 1950s. It’s a comedy apparently based on the work of real-life private eye Fred Otash, a lifeguard-turned-cop who was fired from the force and turned to a life of wiretapping and investigation for the big film companies of the time.
It was his responsibility to control and manage the images of the stars, making sure that embarrassing scandals were quietly covered up and problems were dealt with by any means necessary. The Coens are naturally keeping things quiet as to what their cast will be doing in the film, but we’re expecting Brolin to have a very different experience than his time on **No Country For Old Men. **There will probably be a lot less blood, for one thing.
In addition to his Marvel vocal duties, Brolin has a slew of films headed our way this year and next, including Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, Paul Thomas Anderson’s **I****nherent Vice **and climbing pic Everest.
