Joseph Kosinski Boards Mystery Action Thriller

One of Hollywood's hot young turks, Joseph Kosinski has made a name for himself with a pair of studio sci-fi flicks that married Apple Store aesthetics, dazzling effects and big ideas with mixed results at the box office. Regardless of Tron Legacy's critical reception and Oblivion's middling performance, he's still very much a man in demand. He's been working on Warner Bros.'** Twilight Zone** movie and now, reports Deadline, he's got another potential directorial effort in the works.

Details are sketchy but it's being described as a "grounded action thriller". Less of the light cycles and bubble ships and more muck-and-brass running and shooting, then? Possibly so.

Writing team Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers, the pair behind AMC's planned Mad-Men-with-MacBooks miniseries Halt & Catch Fire, have turned in a script based on Kosinski's original idea for a production that reunites the director with his Oblivion producer Dylan Clark. With the hugely successful Planet Of The Apes reboot on his CV, Clark has got the clout to shepherd the latest Kosinskian vision to the screen.

And what of Tron 3? Glad you asked. Here's what Kosinski told us earlier this year.
