The gang behind upcoming cancer comedy 50/50 clearly had a good time working together, as they’re already figuring out their next collaboration. Yes, director Jonathan Levine, writer Will Reiser and co-producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are all set to reunite for a new laugh-fest called Jamaica.
Much like 50/50, which was taken from Reiser’s experiences battling the dreaded disease, the new film will draw from real-life inspiration, as Reiser is basing the story on a trip he took to the island with his grandmother when he was 14.
“This is a story that I’ve long wanted to tell. It’s something of a passion project for me, and I couldn’t be more excited,” Reiser says in a press release picked up by The Playlist.
This time around, Levine will also be co-writing the script with him and calling the shots, though it’ll have to wait until he’s finished working on zombie romance Warm Bodies. There’s also no word on whether Rogen will act in this one, or whether he’ll once again be joined on screen by Reiser substitute Jonathan Gordon-Levitt. We’ll have to wait and see on that front.
Talking of waiting, we’ll also have to be patient for 50/50, since despite it arriving this September in the States, it’s not scheduled to hit the UK until January 6, 2012.
