Jonah Nolan Pitching TV Crime Thriller

The total of weighty film names taking their talents to television just went up by one: Jonah Nolan has apparently come up with a new crime thriller series concept, and the idea is now being offered to US networks by Captain Production House himself, JJ Abrams.

Entertainment Weekly hasn’t dug up a lot about the project (but then, considering it’s coming from one of the Nolan brothers and being produced by Abrams, did you expect a lot of leakage?), so there’s really not a lot to report about the plot.

But given that this is from the man who co-wrote **The Dark Knight **and The Prestige and whose short story became the basis for Memento, we can imagine the networks salivating at the idea of getting his talent on a series.

That said, Jonathan Nolan is a man in demand, with rumours endlessly flying about him making the leap to directing (though we’re pretty certain he won’t end up with the Superman job, since while he’s Chris’s brother, he doesn’t exactly have a lot of hands-on experience in that field) and of course his continued work with David Goyer on the next Batman film.

Abrams, meanwhile, already has one new show, Undercovers, about to launch in the US, with several others in the development hopper including his recently announced pitch set on the prison island of Alcatraz developed by former Lost writer Elizabeth Sarnoff.

But it’s clearly the week for big telly projects to be announced from people usually found associated with movies, since Ron Howard and Brian Grazer have just put out the big reveal of their plans for Stephen King’s Dark Tower series.
