In development for a while, and having had to change up its casting due to schedule delays, Todd Phillips' based-on-reality gun-running comedy drama War Dogs is now heading for cinemas and has released its first trailer. Take a look below.
Based on a true story (and drawn from Guy Lawson's Rolling Stone article about the guys in question), War Dogs follows David Packouz (Miles Teller) and Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill), two stoner friends in their early 20s living in Miami during the first Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a $300 million deal to arm the Afghan Military, a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government...
Based solely on this initial look, the characters don't initially seem like people you'll find yourself rooting for, but it could be fun watching them sink deeper into trouble.
With Ana de Armas also in the cast and an appearance by Phillips's regular Hangover collaborator Bradley Cooper (who also co-produces), War Dogs will be out in the UK on August 26.
