Seth Rogen and co-writing/producing/directing partner Evan Goldberg announced last September that they were throwing a **Sausage Party. By which, we mean, they’d cooked up the idea for a raunchy animated film and were looking to serve it up to willing audiences. They’ve clearly sent invites to all of their friends, and Jonah Hill, James Franco, Michael Cera, Nick Kroll, David Kumholtz and Kristen Wiig have replied yes to the RSVP.
They’re not the only names along for the ride: Edward Norton has also agreed to spend time in a recording booth, though we don’t know who anyone will be playing yet. You’ve got to figure, too, that a good portion of the rest of the This Is The End crowd will show up for at least a cameo.
Rogen and Goldberg co-wrote the script with Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir and are content to simply produce this one, ceding directing duties to animation experts Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan.
Sausage Party will follow one banger's journey to discover the truth about his existence after falling out of a shopping trolley. Can he make it back through the supermarket to his aisle before the Fourth of July? Will he end up going from the frying pan and into the fire? And how many food-related puns will we come up with before this one hits screens via Sony next year? “Many” is the answer to that last one, in case you were wondering.
Before that happens, Rogen and Goldberg have to put the finishing touches to T****he Interview, their tale of a talk show host (Franco again) and his producer (Rogen) who get caught up in an international incident. That one is set to invade our screens on December 5.
