Josh Brolin wants revenge

Jonah Hex Trailer Arrives

At long last, Warners has put out a trailer for comic book Western adaptation Jonah Hex, starring Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Megan Fox, over at Yahoo.

Now we can finally get a proper look at the DC comics character in action. And how is it? Mixed, but not the Next Wild Wild West we were worried about given that the promotion up until very recently has been a metaphorically empty Western town with tumbleweed blowing across the street.

Hex purists (are there many of those anyway?) might be annoyed by the slight change to his origin story, and we're concerned about his line, "The future's bright" after being shown some sexy new weaponry. We just panic that Orange will want him to follow-up with "The future's Orange" in a blatant stab at product placement.

Seriously, though, from the looks of this, the finished product will live or die on Brolin’s central performance, and his snarky, growling, bitter antihero delivers the lion’s share of the lines in this first – and possibly only – promo.

It remains to be seen whether the apparently troubled production – which slotted in re-shoots to reconfigure chunks of the movie – can pull out of the negative buzz spin-dive, or whether the low expectations might actually help it.

Take a look for yourself below or in HD on Yahoo! Movies, then let us know: does it look like a cult classic in the making or a turkey in training?
