Ever since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, fans have been waiting for an announcement that Marvel Studios would be working on a Fantastic Four movie. And on Disney Investor’s Day, that news finally came – in fact, it was almost casually thrown out as an aside by Kevin Feige during the Marvel section of the presentation. But make no mistake, this is huge news – official confirmation that Marvel’s ‘first family’ will officially be coming home. Fitting, then that it’ll be Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts helming the project.

Yes, the filmmaker behind Homecoming, Far From Home, and the upcoming third Tom Holland Spider-flick will be web-slinging into more cosmic territory as he takes on Reed Richards, Sue and Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm. Nothing else was announced about the film (especially since Watts is sort of busy already making what appears to be some kind of live-action Spider-Verse), but it follows Feige's announcement at the 2019 Comic-Con that the mutants would officially be part of the MCU in the not-too-distant future.

We'll likely be awaiting a few years for this one, but expect the Marvel team to drop hints and lay the track for the Four's debut ahead of the movie. Elsewhere, Feige confirmed that Mahershala Ali’s Blade movie is still in development – and we’ll hopefully be hearing more news on that front in the coming months. For now, it’s the perfect time to look forward to Marvel’s fantastic future.
