Jon Stewart, comedian and host of The Daily Show (now showing on More 4, and well worth a look) is set to host the 78th Annual Academy Awards this year. The news was reported yesterday in The Los Angeles Times, and confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. It will be officially announced by the Academy today.
Stewart previously hosted the Grammys in 2001 and 2002, and has become one of the most famous comedians in the US since taking over The Daily Show in 1999. Film fans may remember him as the science teacher in The Faculty, but he's also appeared in Big Daddy and Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back.
