Back in November last year, word first broke of the cast that Steven Soderbergh was looking to put together for his next film, crime drama Kill Switch. Josh Brolin, Don Cheadle and Sebastian Stan were all mentioned as in talks, but according to Collider, Brolin has since had to drop out because of a scheduling clash. Looks like Jon Hamm is now in the early stages of a deal to replace him.
Starting life as a spec script from Bill And Ted co-writer Ed Solomon, Kill Switch is described as set in 1950s Detroit, where a trio of criminals carry out a home invasion, only to wonder if they're the victims of a double cross when the job goes sideways. Hamm would play a cop on the villains' trail.
Cedric the Entertainer is also in talks now, and Soderbergh is looking to have the cameras cranking this summer. Kill Switch has yet to find a studio home, though given that Soderbergh signed a three-year overall deal with HBO and new Warners streaming service HBO Max, expect that to be a strong contender, especially since the director has already placed his most recent produced film, Let Them All Talk under HBO's aegis.
Hamm will be back on our screens in John Turturro's Big Lebowski spin-off The Jesus Rolls (out 20 March) and Top Gun: Maverick, which is wheels down on 17 July.
