Now that he’s finished shooting the latest series of Mad Men, Jon Hamm has started looking for some film work. And it turns out he’s not having to look very far, since his long time girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt has a script all ready for him to star in: **Friends with Kids.
The pair has been developing the screenplay that actor/writer Westfeldt wrote. There aren’t that many details available about the plot yet, though presumably it explores how friendships change when people start pairing off and starting families.
And while no formal negotiations have started, Hamm and Westfeldt are hoping that Anne Hathaway and Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig will be part of the cast. It’s still early days, though – Showbiz 411’s story doesn’t mention whether the film has any financing in place yet. If they keep having trouble with that, they should probably send Hamm around in Don Draper mode to sweet-talk executives into funding it - should take him about 5 minutes.
Friends will also see Westfeldt stepping behind the camera, and, if it comes together, it’ll likely be her biggest film role since the likes of Kissing Jessica Stein and Ira & Abby.
