Logan's James Mangold is in the directorial driving seat for Ford V. Ferrari, and he has Matt Damon and Christian Bale attached to star. Assuming he makes a deal, Jon Bernthal will be joining them.
Drawn from a true story, the film will follow an eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby (Damon) and his British driver, Ken Miles (Bale), who are dispatched by Henry Ford II with the mission of building from scratch an entirely new automobile with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship.
Bernthal is in talks to be Lee Iacocca, who was one of the key executives at Ford during the 1960s, and went on to run Chrysler. He's joining a cast that also boasts Catriona Balfe and A Quiet Place's Noah Jupe.
Mangold will be shooting soon, and Bernthal's participation is dependent on figuring out scheduling between Ford and his work on the next season of The Punisher. He'll also be seen in Widows, due out on 9 November.
