The cast for Todd Phillips' planned Crown Prince Of Crime movie, Joker, continues to expand in intriguing ways. Now the director has Glow's Marc Maron in talks to join star Joaquin Phoenix.
As we've mentioned before, this film is unconnected to the wider Warner Bros. DCEU, despite featuring a new take on how The Joker comes into being. Phoenix will play a man rejected by society – and affected by an incident on a talk show hosted by Robert De Niro's character – who gives in to his darkest impulses. It'll also eschew the usual giant budget and huge set pieces, opting instead for a street level tale of crime and humanity.
Maron, who acts alongside his podcasting duties on WTF, will play an agent working on the talk show in the movie. He joins a cast that also includes Zazie Beetz and Frances Conroy.
Phillips co-wrote the script with Scott Silver and is preparing to kick off shooting ready for a release (in the US, at least) on 4 October next year.
