Johnny Depp Locked For Jump St Cameo?

Jonah Hill has clearly been chucking coins into the right fountains because after months of rumour, speculation and the man himself hinting that he’d be up for the possibility, the idea that Johnny Depp will make a cameo in 21 Jump Street has now become a reality.

While no official announcement has been made – which makes us wary until the studio decides to break cover – Coming Soon has confirmed that Depp will make a minor appearance in the film. Hill hasn’t said much about the cameo other than it’s apparently something very funny.

Co-written by the actor and Scott Pilgrim’s Michael Bacall, Jump Street finds Hill and Channing Tatum as officers Doug Penhall and Tom Hanson, assigned to crack down on crime by their chief, Captain Adam Fuller (Ice Cube).

Together the pair must deal with troublemakers of all ages, including Rob Riggle’s devious drug kingpin masquerading as an anti-narcotics crusader, Dave Franco, Jake Johnson and DeRay Davis. But there’ll also be time for romance with Brie Larson’s Molly.

**Cloudy with a Chance of Meatball **co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller kicked off shooting the movie on Monday, a moment marked by Hill in a tweet featuring the police logo used by the production. The original Jump Street, of course, was the cult cop series that helped launched Depp’s career – so it’s fitting he’s paying homage, even if it means he’ll only be on screen for minutes at the most.
