The John Wick movies can well be described as roller coaster rides with their high-octane stunts. But do they seem like natural settings for theme park attractions? Lionsgate thinks so, and is opening a Wick attraction at the Motiongate park in Dubai.
John Wick: Open Contract is described as a huge coaster that offers the opportunity to either help Keanu Reeves' iconic assassin or to hunt him.
“You’ll get two different experiences depending on which path through the queue you choose to get on the ride,” Lionsgate's Jenefer Brown tells Variety.
"I think what’s going to be amazing for fans is to have the opportunity to walk through the lobby of the Continental and experience different key moments in the settings that took place in the films. This attraction in particular is really about setting the story by putting people in this very immersive environment, and then you really get the action as you get on the coaster."
Of course, going back to a theme park doesn't sound all that appealing to many people right now, but the Lionsgate team will be hoping this helps to kickstart that – safety precautions and all - when it opens next year. And the Wick ride isn't the only attraction the company is working on: a Now You See Me version, which lets you walk through where the Four Horsemen illusionists are pulling off a casino heist before you board the coaster, is also looking to open next year at the same park.
