The last time John Travolta and Salma Hayek were in the same cast, it was for Oliver Stone’s Savages and they didn’t share the screen. For Nick Guthe’s adaptation of big-selling memoir A Three Dog Life, however, that will not be a problem.

Guthe has written and will direct the film based on Abigail Thomas’ book. When her husband, Rich, was hit by a car, his brain is shattered and he's left subject to rages and hallucinations. He has to live the rest of his life in an institution with no memory of what he did in the hours and days before. Abigail had to build a new life, moving to a small country town and forming a new family from "three dogs, knitting, and friendship". The story also covers her relationship with Rich, who only lives in the present, and "the eerie poetry of his often uncanny perceptions".

Travolta, meanwhile, will also be part of a decidedly different project. He’s agreed to lend his voice to the main character in **Gummy Bear, the 3D animated film from Stealth Media Group. George Gallo (normally found writing the likes of Bad Boys and** Middle Men**) has cranked out a script about the titular character and his friends – a vegetarian vampire bat, a bat and a chameleon, helping to save an alien planet from destruction. We’d have loved to have been in on that pitch meeting…
