John Krasinski Now Writing The Quiet Place Sequel

A Quiet Place

A huge part of making alien attack/noise-attuned hunters thriller A Quiet Place a success this year, John Krasinski has until now only been a consultant on the sequel that Paramount and the producers are cooking up. But now, after suggesting the studio find someone else to script the new movie, he's officially aboard to write it.

"That was my intention for the movie itself," Krasinski told the audience at a Q&A on Wednesday attended by The Hollywood Reporter. "Then I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn't think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, 'Just go do the movie with somebody else." But even as the executives took meeting with other filmmakers to hear potential pitches, Krasinski's idea kept itching at his brain.

"I told [producer] Drew Form about this little idea," recalls Krasinski. "And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, 'This might really work.' So, I'm currently writing the sequel."

Krasinski famously re-wrote the script for the original movie, before directing and starring alongside wife Emily Blunt. Now, while he's unlikely to appear in front of the camera (spoiler alert: his character became creature fodder), he'll explore another angle of the alien invasion story. A Quiet Place 2 will menace screens on 15 May, 2020.
