Though we've had pictures of the man in character, the show's panel at the New York Comic Con allowed us the first proper look at John Krasinski as just the latest incarnation of Jack Ryan. See the teaser trailer for the new Amazon series.
Based as ever on the Tom Clancy character that has been portrayed several times on the big screen, this time we've a small screen version handled by former Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse, who teams up with another veteran of the island, writer/producer Graham Roland (a former Marine, which will help with some of the details). They haven't directly adapted any of Clancy’s books, but will instead showcase the character as a CIA agent/analyst in the present day, a few years beyond when we see him in the 2014 Chris Pine film, without being a continuation of that take on the character.
This is his first taste of action beyond the confines of gathering intel and writing reports, but given everything we know about Ryan as a character, it won't be too long before he's knee deep in trouble, in this case dealing with a terrorist threat to the US and her allies.
The likes of Wendell Pierce (allowed here to display his talent for swearing once showcased on The Wire), Ali Sulliman, Abbie Cornish and Peter Fonda show up for Jack Ryan, which will launch its eight-episode first season on Amazon next year.
