Despite small roles in Jarhead and Kinsey, John Krasinski is best known as the US Office version of “Tim” (called, cleverly, “Jim”).
But he’s setting out to change all that with a small flurry of new film roles. He’s just signed up for a brief part as Sam Walsh in the currently shooting musical Dreamgirls, alongside Beyonce and Eddie Murphy, and has also jumped aboard Nancy Meyers’ rom com Holiday, starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. He’s a lucky, lucky man.
Even luckier, he nabbed a role in Christopher Guest’s next improviso-thon, For Your Consideration, about actors from an indie film who discover there is Oscar buzz about their roles. And he’s using his summer holiday to work on Licence To Wed, the recently-announced comedy that sees Robin Williams’ priest force a young couple to pass trials in order to get hitched in his church.
