Currently eliciting big praise for his work in computer screen-based thriller Searching, John Cho has signed on to a new movie, this one coming from Master Of None co-creator/writer/director Alan Yang. Cho, Tzi Ma and Christine Ko will all star in Tigertail.
Yang has written and will direct the drama, which is based on events that happened in his own family. Tigertail focuses on two people’s poor life choices and the consequences of those decisions. In one storyline, set in the 1950s, a man in Taiwan gives up the love of his life to marry his boss's daughter, which allows him to go to America. In present day New York, his daughter has an affair with her husband's best friend.
The cameras should be rolling on the film, which will shoot in New York and Taiwan, kicking off next week. Given his close connection to Netflix with Master Of None, it's not that surprising to learn that the streaming service is providing the backing and will be showing the film.
Searching is out on limited release in the US starting this Friday, before it expands on 31 August, which is also the day it arrives in the UK. Cho will be seen in comedy The Oath (which has yet to confirm a UK release) and the latest reboot of venerable horror franchise The Grudge, due on 16 August next year.
