Despite concerns that his outspoken activism might have hurt his career, John Boyega certainly isn't short of jobs right now. The latest will find him starring in Gavin Hood's new thriller, The Test.

Hood adapted the script from Sylvain Neuvel's novella, and it'll co-star Payman Maadi in the story of a soft-spoken immigrant (Maadi) taking a citizen evaluation test, and a brilliant young behavioral psychologist (Boyega) supervising "the test" confront a terrorist group lead by a far-right fanatic.

The aim is to shoot the thriller as a two-hander on a limited set, which will make keeping everyone safe during the ongoing pandemic easier. According to Hood, the story is "a heart-pounding psychological thriller, set in an authoritarian near-future that grabbed me by the throat and left me reeling."

Boyega has Steve McQueen's Red White And Blue, a part of his Small Axe anthology, headed to Amazon in November (you can find the new trailer here). He's also attached to sci-fi pic They Cloned Tyrone and has worked on crime drama Naked Singularity.
