Joe Roth, the former head of production company Revolution Studios, has 99 Problems with his new producing business.
All right, so that’s just a cheesier-than-Swiss way of saying that he’s bought a pitch called 99 Problems from writing team Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont.
The plot – a high concept comedy – sees a ladies’ man about to settle down. But he wishes (the fool! He’s in a film!) that he could date as many women as possible before he faces the prospect of domesticity.
Kaplan and Elfont first arrived on the scene with 1998’s Can’t Hardly Wait, which Elfont also directed. They attracted the attention of producing partnership Team Todd, run by Suzanne and Jennifer Todd. “Jen and I have always wanted to work with Deb and Harry," Suzanne Todd gushed to The Hollywood Reporter. "We were really excited when we first heard this story. It's a comedy but with a heart of gold." A comedy with a heart of gold, eh? Stop the presses!
