UPDATE: Scott has now hired Vanessa Kirby to play Josephine opposite Phoenix. It's a good swap!
Though it looked likeJodie Comerwas all set to re-team with her_The Last Duel_directorRidley Scotton his next project,Kitbag, which would have seen her playing Josephine toJoaquin Phoenix's Napoleon, she's no longer able to be part of the film.
“Unfortunately, due to COVID and changes of schedule, I don’t think I can make Kitbag work now due to a scheduling conflict,” Comer told The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast. "Which is rubbish," she adds in her inimitable style.
Kitbag, which Scott is still making with Phoenix (with Apple's backing and shooting scheduled to start later this month), is a look at Napoleon's origins and his fast, ruthless climb to emperor, all viewed through the prism of his volatile, passionate relationship with Josephine. David Scarpa wrote the script.
Those looking to get their Comer fix will have to wait for the fourth season ofKilling Eve, which returns next month. Or you'll find her treading the boards in one-woman stage show Prima Facie in the West End from April to June.
