Good news for anyone who thought that his time on Justice League (either the theatrical version or Zack Snyder's extended cut) just wasn't enough JK Simmons: the actor is now in talks to reprise the role of Commissioner Gordon for the new Batgirl movie.
In The Heights' Leslie Grace scored the title role last week, while Bad Boys For Lifedirectors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are aboard to make the movie from a script by Birds Of Prey writer Christina Hodson.
The story is under wraps, though presumably it'll serve as an origin for Barbara Gordon, who in the comics is often portrayed as Jim Gordon's daughter (and sometimes his niece or adoptive child). She'll take on the Batgirl mantle and fight crime...
Simmons' presence would seem to situate the new film – which is heading straight to HBO Max in the States upon release – in the Snyder universe, though if Spider-Man: Far From Home's end credits sting proved, JK Simmons characters can exist across different multiverses.
Batgirl has yet to lock in an official release date, though it should be on screens next year.
