There might not exactly be a dearth of superhero movies around these days, but JJ Abrams clearly thinks there could be a gap in the market. He's throwing his producing weight behind a new movie called The Heavy. and has his Overlord director Julius Avery in negotiations to make it.
Daniel Casey wrote the script for the new film, which is being kept strictly under wraps for now. We know, we know... it's shocking that an Abrams production is under lock and key. All that has snuck out of containment so far is that it's apparently a subversive take on the genre, so make your best guess based on that.
Avery, who made a splash with Son Of A Gun and won the job of making supernatural World War II thriller Overlord for Abrams' Bad Robot team, enjoyed a warm reaction to his latest at CinemaCon last week, so he's clearly got the producer's favour. That movie is set to arrive via Paramount on 25 October in the UK.
