Jim Carrey has signed up for approximately 9,411 comedies in the past couple of years, only to see them fall apart. But, like Robert the Bruce, he tries and tries again. In fact, he's just kept on saying yes, which makes him perfect to star in Yes Man, about a guy who decides to change his life by saying yes to everything for a year.
Producer David Heyman, he of the Harry Potter franchise, is producing along with Richard Zanuck, and he let slip to **MTV **yesterday that Jim Carrey is set to star in the film, an adaptation of Danny Wallace's book. Meanwhile, it was officially announced that Down With Love director Peyton Reed is directing, a combination that's pretty darn promising if you ask us.
Heyman says, ""It's about a man who finds himself very depressed, and is always saying no. When friends ask him out, he always says no," Heyman added. "[The film will explore] what happens when he decides to say yes to every thing that comes his way." Which is a great idea when someone suggests a nice holiday abroad, but a less good idea when someone asks you to, say, donate a kidney.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the people at the studio are yes men enough to see this get made, so that Carrey can get back to work at last.
