Jessica Jones Season 2 Trailer Teases Origin Story Plot

Jessica Jones - Season 2

Shed of her fellow Defenders, Jessica Jones is stepping out on her own again for a second season. Krysten Ritter’s no-nonsense, booze-soaked detective is back on the beat for the next run of Netflix’s gritty street-level Marvel series, and the first trailer has just arrived.

It looks like the new season will delve into Jones’ unexplored origin story — the hard-drinking private eye has super strength powers which were gradually unveiled over the course of the first season, but we haven’t seen how she got them. That all looks to change with the new run — the trailer seems to depict Jones tracking down the people who experimented on her, and who seemingly could have also created a villain committing murders across Hell’s Kitchen.

Elsewhere, Jones looks to be teaming up with her old friend Trish and clashing with rival detective agencies. Most intriguingly, the trailer ends with a tantalising tease of Kilgrave, the mind-controlling villain from Season 1, portrayed by David Tennant at his most menacing, who — spoiler alert — was killed off in the finale. He’s confirmed to be making some kind of a comeback, but is it a flashback? A hallucination? Or is he really back from the dead?
