Pepper Potts will be happy at this little development, even if no one else is... After looking like she could end up part of the Iron Man 3 cast, Jessica Chastain has announced that her ever-busy schedule will keep her from appearing.

Taking to her Facebook page, the in-demand actress announced the news, admitting that she was disappointed she won’t get to take part. “Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn't going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can't fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I'm so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there'll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I'm very excited to see the film when it comes out.”

Chastain had been circling the role of a beautiful, brilliant scientist who – spoiler warning – is part of the team working on a new type of nanobot that both helps Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark advance the evolution of his Iron Man suits and causes real trouble when a terrorist gets hold of the technology. And, given who Stark is, we’d imagine there will be plenty of sparks to go flying between the man himself and whoever takes on the role.

So now the hunt will be on for another talented type to join the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce and, assuming, Rhodey has a role, Don Cheadle.

Chastain, who should probably look into cloning technology given how many job offers she gets, is currently at work on Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty. She’ll be heard rather than seen in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted (due October 12), and in two of Terrence Malick’s next projects, Lawless (likely to change its name) and the still-untitled romance with Ben Affleck.
