Last seen chiding Bruce Wayne as Alfred in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Jeremy Irons will be cutting a little looser for a new role. He's on board to play a hard-living thespian opposite Jack Huston in An Actor Prepares.
Irons is playing Atticus Smith, a celebrated performer whose successful career and rugged good looks and charm have led him to become a hard-living lothario. He's estranged from his son (Huston), a humble and devoted academic, happily married and content to live a quiet life.
Yet when a medical condition forces Atticus to find a ride across America from LA to New York instead of flying for his daughter's impending wedding, his son becomes his only option and the stage is set for a mad road trip that will either help to reconcile them or end with them both in the hospital.
Steve Clark is directing the film from the script he wrote with Thomas Moffett and he'll start shooting in the autumn. Irons will be seen in Race (out June 3) and Assassin's Creed, which just launched its first trailer. Huston has Ben-Hur riding in on August 26.
