In all the movie genres that Jennifer Lopez has dipped into in her career, she's rarely, if ever, tried a straight-up action thriller. That's set to change with The Mother, for Netflix.
Mulan's Niki Caro is on to direct the film, which was originally written by Lovecraft Country's Misha Green and has seen a polish from Straight Outta Compton's Andrea Berloff. Lopez will play a deadly assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men. According to Deadline, the feel is in the style of Leon, and, if you ask us, a little of The Long Kiss Goodnight.
This will mark the second project that Lopez is starring in and producing for the streaming service, as she's also setting up novel adaptationThe Cipher.
