Back in July last year, we learned that Jennifer Lopez was aiming to follow up Hustlers with another true crime – this time, a real world drug lord, or rather, drug lady, in Griselda “La Madrina” Blanco. Now Reed Morano is on board to direct.

STX Entertainment, which backed Hustlers, is producing this one, aiming to tell the story of Blanco, who outsmarted and out-hustled the men around her to rise from an impoverished childhood in Colombia to become one of the world’s biggest drug lords, who reportedly was worth more than $2 billion and was a key figurehead in Miami’s ruthless and murderous Cocaine Cowboy Wars.

Sopranos veteran Terrence Winter and Deadwood/Sons Of Anarchy writer Regina Corrado took the first pass at the script, though The Departed's William Monahan has written the most recent draft.

Morano most recently directed The Rhythm Section, though she'll be hoping for a better box office success story than that action movie.
