The Murder Mysterenaissance continues apace! Cameras are rolling on Rian Johnson's starry Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the cast is filling out nicely for hotly anticipated Richard Osman cosy crime novel adaptation The Thursday Murder Club, and now Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence is getting in on the genre act too. Per THR's reporting, The Hunger Games star is set to star in and produce murder mystery movie The Wives, an Apple Original Film and A24 co-production.

The Wives will mark the second team-up between Lawrence, A24, and Apple, with their first, 2022 PTSD drama Causeway, having earned Lawrence's co-star Brian Tyree Henry an Oscar nomination. Plot details for this one, which is currently in development and seeking a director, remain under wraps for the time being. That being said, the project is being described in reports as being inspired — at least in part — by constructed reality franchise The Real Housewives, which follows the personal and professional dramas of groups of rich American women in different states across America. If that doesn't already suggest The Wives is likely to be a less-than-po-faced murder mystery movie, then the fact Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical co-writers Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley are on script duties certainly does.

As far as when we may expect to see The Wives, who else will star in it, who'll helm the project, and just exactly what it'll be about, those details all remain, aptly, a mystery for the time being — though we'll bring you more info just as soon as we uncover it. But with Lawrence leading, Breslin and Foley bringing their unique brand of whipsmart writing to the feature, and Apple and A24 — whose past collaborations include The Tragedy Of Macbeth and STEVE! A Documentary In Two Pieces — also helping to bring The Wives to fruition, it seems safe to say we suspect we may have another killer movie on our hands. (Pun very much intended!)
