That escalated quickly. Mere months after meeting and becoming BFFS, Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence are working together on a script that they’re aiming to star in.

Given that it’s still at an early stage, Lawrence – ostensibly talking to The New York Times about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 – was reticent to reveal too much. But she did say that, “we play sisters. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

Lawrence says she got in contact with Schumer after seeing Trainwreck, and the two became fast friends, with Lawrence joining the comedian, actress and writer on holiday with her crowd. That has now become a professional connection. “Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavours,” she says. “It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.”

For now, the script is just being written, but we can well imagine every studio executive getting on the phone with their representatives, trying to take a look. Those two in combo? Surely it would be a winner.

Lawrence most recently worked on X-Men: Apocalypse, which is out on May 19 next year. Before that, she has David O. Russell’s Joy, due here on January 1. Schumer’s Trainwreck debuted in the UK a couple of weeks ago and she’s currently working on another script with her sister, which** Warm Bodies**’ Jonathan Levine may direct.
