With Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight now firmly back on track – you might recall we chronicled its difficult path to the screen – the writer/director is busy slotting in the remaining cast members he needs. Jennifer Jason Leigh is now aboard to play Daisy Domergue.
Set in Wyoming shortly after the Civil War, QT’s latest is a blood-soaked Western that finds to bounty hunters, a tough female prisoner and a local sheriff waiting out a brutal winter storm that threatens not just frozen fingers but also the arrival of four men who may or may not be trying to free the criminal from the shackles of the law.
Tarantino has stacked the cast with past collaborators including Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins and Denis Menochet locked in and Bruce Dern, James Remar, James Parks, Diana Gourrier and Zoe Bell expected to join the violent fun. Leigh beat out a host of competition to score the role of Daisy Domergue, the prisoner at the core of the story. Amber Tamblyn performed the role in the live read that the director held this past April.
The cameras are expected to roll – in CinemaScope – early next year for a late 2015 release. Leigh will next be seen in Kristen Wiig comedy Welcome To Me and horror sequel Amityville: The Awakening, which lands here on February 13, 2015.
