It's been a while since we've seen her in action form – you have to go back to the likes of Daredevil, Elektra, and before them, TV's Alias to find it. But Jennifer Garner is clearly ready to get back into the kicking, punching and shooting mode, entering talks to star in revenge thriller Peppermint.
Taken director Pierre Morel, who last brought us The Gunman, will be behind the camera for this one, which has a script from London Has Fallen's Chad St. John. Despite the seemingly sweet title, Peppermint will follow a woman (Garner) whose husband and daughter are slain in a drive-by shooting. Left in a coma, our heroine wakes up and decides to spend years becoming a lethal killing machine in order to hunt down those responsible.
On the 10th anniversary of her family's death, she goes after the gang members that pulled the trigger, the lawyers who helped them dodge punishment and the crooked cops whose actions enabled the crime in the first place.
While Lionsgate appeared to have picked up the movie at Cannes, it has since backed out of the agreement, with STX swooping in, no doubt hoping it can spawn a female version of John Wick (even if Atomic Blonde) beats it to the punch.
Garner will be seen in The Tribes Of Palos Verdes and Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. She's also part of Wakefield, which is on digital download and DVD now in the UK.
