Parenting theories come and go, but a more recent one, inspired by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenhelp’s 2009 children’s book Yes Day has people indulging their sprogs in whatever they want for a day. Jennifer Garner is one parent who has embraced the idea, and now she's looking to turn it into a film of the same name.
The basic concept behind the book and the day is that parents must say yes to whatever their kids want for 24 hours each year. We're assuming here, this doesn't mean letting a nine-year-old get behind the wheel of the family car, but more camping out, late bedtime and pizza for breakfast.
Honestly, it sounds like a recipe for chaos and we're not entirely sure that Rosenthal and Lichtenhelp aren't two sets of three children standing on each other's shoulders under big coats, who pitched the idea to publishers as part of some ploy on kids' parts to get their way more often.
Miguel Arteta, who directed Garner on Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, is attached, but it's still early days for the movie. Garner will be back on our screens in action-thriller Peppermint, due 21 September and with its trailer lurking below.
