Ah, the traditional festive party. Such a source of potential embarrassment. Such a rich vein for comedy. It's one that the seemingly self-explanatory Office Christmas Party wants to tap, and has recruited Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, T.J. Miller and Kate McKinnon ready to drink too much and photocopy body parts.

The film has been trying to get on its feet for a while now, with a variety of actors and writers attached, but it's finally stumbling towards a cinematic home with Blades Of Glory directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck recruiting the main duo they worked with on The Switch for the latest version, alongside Deadpool's wisecracking comic relief and a Saturday Night Live main player who will be seen this summer in the new Ghostbusters.

While the actual details of the script are a mystery beyond the concept of several characters having to deal with the annual office Chrimbo bash going comically wrong, the words will come from Bad Teacher writers Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky and TV scribe Laura Solon.

Gordon and Speck are gearing up to shoot this spring, and the movie itself hits American cinemas on December 9. There's no sign of a UK date yet.
