Jemaine... Present! Having successfully transported vampire mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows to TV screens, Flight Of The Concords veteran Jemaine Clement is also keeping his film career moving. He'll crop up in at least one of the new Avatar films as a marine biologist named Dr. Ian Garvin.
Avatar overlord James Cameron has been busy working on the next couple of movies (he has four sequels to the 2009 original planned overall), and has completed performance capture work for at least Avatar 2 and has moved on to shooting the live-action portions of the film, which is where the likes of Clement and Michelle Yeoh, among others, will feature. "I’ve loved Jemaine’s work for years and I’m really pumped that he’s joining our cast as Ian Garvin, one of my favorite characters,” Cameron said on the franchise's social media feed.
The film's plots will focus on the family of Sam Worthington's Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana's Neytiri, other tribes of Na'vi and the continuing threat from the human forces. Cameron has the likes of Kate Winslet, David Thewlis and Cliff Curtis joining the cast with Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver returning.
Avatar 2 will now be out on 17 December 2021. Hopefully.
