The quality casting decisions for Duncan Jones’ follow-up to Moon, Source Code, just continue to trickle in. The latest to join the sci-fi thriller? Casino Royale’s Jeffrey Wright.
Jones announced Wright’s involvement with little fanfare on his Twitter feedyesterday, dropping the news that he had “just met with the lovely Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright. Feeling quite thrilled to have two such scorchingly good actors in Source Code". Apparently he’d also been wandering around the production office snaffling food from the rest of the crew because his lunch hadn’t turned up yet, but that’s not quite as newsworthy.
So far, that’s Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan, Wright and Jake Gyllenhaal all aboard the story of a soldier who takes part in a quasi time-travel, Groundhog Day-style experiment that repeatedly places him on a train before a terrorist attack destroys it, charged with tracking down whoever is responsible and trying to stop it.
There’s no word on what role Wright has snagged (though the Playlist has been digging into a draft of the script and suggests he’s likely a military liaison), but for now we’re just happy to learn he’s aboard. Source Code starts shooting next month. Assuming Duncan’s had his lunch...
